Glass only repairs are quickly increasing in popularity as technicians search for a more economical way to replace the glass on a smartphone. Since designers of consumer electronics are continuing on the path of the small, smaller, and smallest, more devices will be held together with gobs of sticky adhesive. As
LCD glass assemblies rise in cost, and thus create narrower margins for business owners, glass only repairs could easily become an important aspect of the
electronic repair industry.

We've also researched the tools that work – and don't work – so we can offer as many options and as much information to our community as possible. NEW! Polarizer Film
Polarizer film is a thin piece of film that goes between the LCD and glass during re-installation. Simply put,
polarizer film helps reduce the reflection of light off the glass and LCD after installation. Similar to the lens of polarized sunglasses, this piece of film does the same job of reducing reflected light and UV rays. eTech Parts is happy to announce we now carry
polarized film for the most common glass-only repairs.
Note: Make sure to remove the protective film on
both sides of the polarizer film prior to installation.
LOCA and Translucent LOCA Alignment Mold
As previously mentioned on the eTech Parts blog, we are
loco for LOCA, or Liquid Optical Clear Adhesive, which is the glue that goes between the LCD and glass during a glass-only repair. This glue is the best to use because preventing bubbles is easier with
LOCA than with the pre-cut sheets of
optical clear adhesive.
Now eTech Parts has a new tool to make applying LOCA even easier! Introducing the
Translucent LOCA Alignment Mold for iPhone 5/5s, this professional tool is specially designed to align the LCD and glass lens during installation. This tool makes it easier than ever to properly apply LOCA for a perfect install, every time.
