How to Fix iPhone 5/5s/5c Proximity Sensor Issue

Recently we've gotten some calls and emails from customers who are encountering proximity sensor issues on the iPhone 5, iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c. This is similar to past reported issues with the iPhone 4 proximity sensor not working correctly after a screen repair -- particularly if another color screen was installed on the device. Here at eTech Parts we're lucky enough to speak with hundreds of repair shop owners on a daily basis; this gives us a chance to learn more about troubleshooting and repairing issues such as this. We recently got a helpful tip from our friend Jason at iPhoneFix, who found his proximity sensor issues were eradicated once he transferred the proximity sensor hold from the original broken display to the new assembly.

PROXIMITY

Here's the issue: if there's no proximity sensor hold included on the replacement screen, the proximity sensor will not work correctly. You must transfer the proximity sensor hold from the original screen (or purchase a new one) and adhere it to the new replacement screen. If you no longer have the original Proximity Sensor Hold for iPhone 5, you can find them on our website. We are working with our vendors to ensure the quality of each and every replacement LCD/digitizer is consistent and comes with the proximity sensor hold already included as part of the assembly. Until then, this issue can be solved with some tweezers and 1-2mm Red Tape adhesive! Thanks again to Jason at iPhoneFix for this helpful tip!
