Rumors, Rumors, Rumors.... There is a lot of talk about the Next generation iPhone and what it will or will not be. I'm very excited about the 4
th generation iPhone and you can be sure I will have one as soon as they are available.
Let me go over some of the major rumors in circulation and I'll throw in a few things nobody has talked about yet. It will be fun to revisit this post after the phone is released so I will pick a side on each topic.
1.
Release Date? Rumor is June although some claim as early as May. I say June. That would be the norm for Apple.
2.
4G Network? My Guess is the iPhone will have 4G capability but AT&T will not be ready by June and even if they are it will be in limited areas. I think AT&T will have 4G in most major metropolitan areas by mid 2011.
3.
Verizon? Speaking of networks, some rumor mills say the 4G iPhone will be offered by Verizon. I'm going to say no on this based off inside info later in the post.
4.
Smaller Size? Nope, the new iPhone will be about the same size and there are no plans for releasing a smaller version or “iPhone nano” anytime soon.
5.
Video Chat? Wouldn't that be amazing? Not sure if this will be true but since I want to take a stand on each topic I will say yes even through it seems hard to believe. Mobile video chat!!!! Crazy!

Front Facing Video Camera? Yes, I know the next iPhone will have a front facing camera. Thats why I'm saying yes on the video chat :-)
7.
Rear Touch Sensor? The rumor is the back will be touch sensitive so you can see the entire screen while operating it from the rear. Sounds like a cool feature but I dont see this making into the iPhone this time around.
8.
HD Screen? Yes the new iPhone will have a higher resolution HD Screen and faster processing of course.
Thats most of the rumors I could find. I'm confident I'll go 7 for 8 but Just in case, here are a couple more things I know. I hope I get bonus points for these if I'm wrong on a couple of the Rumors.
1. The next generation iPhone Screen will be similar in style to the 1
st generation iPhone where the LCD, Digitizer and Glass are all fused together. This is very disappointing from a repair aspect because it will mean much higher costs if the screen gets cracked.
2. The Sim card will not be on the top of the 4G iphone. It will be located on the side. I suppose it doesn't really matter where it's located but It's weird to me since the top sim card placement has been a constant across all Generations of the iPhone.
