  • Shop Talk: CrackedMacScreen

    [fusion_text]
We caught up with Trevor L. from CrackedMacScreen to learn more about his experience in the wireless repair industry.
How did you end up in the wireless repair industry?

Back in 2009 I was looking to upgrade my black Macbook and ended up finding one on Craigslist that had a broken crackedmacscreenscreen. I found the screen on eBay, downloaded a 9 step PDF install guide without reverse instructions and went to work on my Mac. Three hours and a bucket of sweat later the Mac was repaired. Word got around that I could fix the “white Macbook” and I knew that there was a definite need for it so I taught myself web design, bought a domain, got an 800 number with my mom doing the voiceover, and CrackedMacScreen was born.

  • What does the iPhone SE mean for wireless repair?

What do you think the iPhone SE will mean for the wireless repair industry?know-the-differences-etech

The iPhone 5 series may still be fresh in the minds of wireless repair technicians. Each device had their own issues, but broken screens and charging issues are a few of the memorable iPhone 5 series repairs. There were the proximity sensor issues and the iPhone 5s blue screen of death. Then we had failing power buttons (volume controls and the vibrate switch too) that led a customer down the path of repair and into our cell phone repair shops

The iPhone 5c was a popular device that many phone repair technicians encountered. A customer would bring in their iPhone 5C and explain how the person they called was unable to hear them. Oh, by the way, this customer also was experiencing some charging problems. Some investigation showed us that there was a broken charge port flex cable. We were able to save the iPhone 5C and the day.

Apple has released another phone for the budget-conscious. This could be an option for new iPhone users or for existing iPhone users who want to upgrade from an iPhone 5 series device without giving up the smaller size. We are having nostalgic flashbacks, like much of the phone repair community, to simpler times with smaller devices. We anticipate many repairs to be similar to the smaller iPhone 5 series devices.

  • Doing Business Made Easy for RepairShopr Users

What systems do you have in place to meet your point of sale, customer relationship management, inventory management, accounting, ticketing and invoices, and marketing needs for your wireless repair business? We often hear of the old-fashioned pen and paper approach. As an added bonus to these software users, more integrations are being developed to help save even more time in their daily operations.
