Teens not turning away Apple, and T-Mobile is here to help

There is a good amount of chatter on the blogs and throughout social media that teens view Apple as an "old people" brand. The so-called experts claim the Android world is much newer and exciting, appealing to their needs to be different. That is partially true, teens do strive to be different, but according to a recent poll by analyst firm Piper Jaffary, the latter is far from reality. Cult of Mac posted the overwhelming results recently, and the generation of kids that were raised with their parents hand me down iPods are quite excited to be iPhone owners. osisyournextiphone   It is a well known fact that Samsung spends far more money on research and development, to the point they have employees placed all over the world whose sole occupation is studying people of different cultures. Along with HTC, and other Android manufacturers, they land celebrity endorsements and tend to focus marketing towards a more hip and youthful demographic. Not too unlike Apple vs Microsoft back in the day. The difference is, as with humans in the generations before them, even teens are attracted to brands they know. Think back to stepping out into the real world, standing in a big box store, feeling comforted by names like Sony and GE. Is it too bold to begin to position Apple into the household name world of Kleenex, Coca Cola, or Levi's? So many young people today were raised on Apple products, they simply don't even know anything else. "What about Microsoft? They were on top once!" That's a fair point, but your Grandma now has an iPad. Microsoft lost touch of everyone, consumers of all ages and backgrounds have been fleeing for years. Lack of innovation broke their back, that is what you must accept with the current debate. There are masses that say these tiny steps from an iPhone 4 to a 4S, or a 4S to a 5, and now a 5 to a 5S are going to drive everyone off, but the fact is the Android devices are not leaps and bounds above any Apple mobile device. Its a personal choice at this point, not a need or desperate desire for more technology. With the results of this survey, and the big T-Mobile iPhone 5 launch tomorrow offering free upgrades and additional credits towards future payment, it looks like our community is going to get a big boost on the number of future broken iPhones. As for the 21% share of new Android seekers, we are continually building our stock of repair parts for Androids. At the end of the day, the market gain is impressive and something to consider. Like you, we are not biased when it comes to broken devices in need of repair. Source: Piper Jaffray, Cult of Mac
