Apple Announces an iPad with Double the Storage

BlackiPadToday Apple announced an updated iPad with Retina display that will be released next week, with twice the storage capacity of the 64GB model. This 128GB model will be available in both black and white, with the Wi-Fi model selling at retail for $799 and the Wi-Fi + Cellular model selling for $929.   Many are questioning the purpose of this release for several reasons. First of all, whoever needs a whopping 128 gigs of storage space on an iPad must be doing a lot more than catapulting cartoon birds at pigs with a slingshot. I have a 64GB iPad Mini and have a sneaking suspicion that much storage space will never be fully utilized by me. However, with tablet sales projected to overtake sales of PCs and laptops this year, it makes sense that more people are using tablets as personal computers and, therefore, require the extra storage space.   Speculations regarding the timing of this release are also being brought into question, as many people expected Apple to release their next-generation iPad this spring. We can safely assume Apple probably won’t be releasing a new iPad anytime soon, but as always only time will tell.
