What does the iPhone SE mean for wireless repair?

What do you think the iPhone SE will mean for the wireless repair industry?

The iPhone 5 series may still be fresh in the minds of wireless repair technicians. Each device had their own issues, but broken screens and charging issues are a few of the memorable iPhone 5 series repairs. There were the proximity sensor issues and the iPhone 5s blue screen of death. Then we had failing power buttons (volume controls and the vibrate switch too) that led a customer down the path of repair and into our cell phone repair shops The iPhone 5c was a popular device that many phone repair technicians encountered. A customer would bring in their iPhone 5C and explain how the person they called was unable to hear them. Oh, by the way, this customer also was experiencing some charging problems. Some investigation showed us that there was a broken charge port flex cable. We were able to save the iPhone 5C and the day. Apple has released another phone for the budget-conscious. This could be an option for new iPhone users or for existing iPhone users who want to upgrade from an iPhone 5 series device without giving up the smaller size. We are having nostalgic flashbacks, like much of the phone repair community, to simpler times with smaller devices. We anticipate many repairs to be similar to the smaller iPhone 5 series devices. [su_quote cite="Jake, Lead Technician of eTech Training"]When I think of the iPhone SE, I think of a smaller, easier to fit in your pocket, fit in your hand type of phone. Apple decided to back track on creating larger iPhones to reach out to those loyal customers that still hold on to their iPhone 5, 5S, and 5C models. The iPhone SE is the same size as the 5 series with a 4” screen.[/su_quote]

What are your thoughts about the new Apple devices released?

eTech Parts is always excited to see a new device released because it means more revenue for our customers. Jake-eTech-TrainingJake, Lead Technician of eTech Training, explained the iPhone SE "will bring in another revenue stream since the customers that still have their iPhone 5 series device will likely upgrade to the SE." Jake also commented on the relatively high cost to repair the iPhone 5 series devices and explained that it deters some customers from repairing the iPhone 5 screens. Overall Jake believes that "bringing a new generation of iPhone into the market will keep those customers coming to your repair shop when they break a screen." Share your thoughts in the comments below or over on our Facebook page!
